Ranked choice voting in Maine is down to the wire. Advocates need our help to GET OUT THE VOTE.
Can you put in a few hours of phone calling to save Ranked Choice Voting?
In a late-night session last October, Maine’s legislature quietly passed an effective repeal of RCV, which forced advocates to put Question 1 on the ballot as a People’s Veto of the legislature's actions. Now, not only will voters be actually using RCV on June 12th to select their primary party winners, but they will also have to vote on Question 1 : YES to restore RCV, and NO to allow the legislature to have its way -- and thwart the will of the people.
A segment from Maine Public Radio broadcast today suggests Mainers are confused about the wording of the ballot question, with one voter lamenting, “They gotta make these things as complicated as possible.” That’s why they need our help to clear up the confusion: Yes On 1 means keeping RCV.
